What is Purply?
If you value taste as much as our climate
Purply is a new food ingredient made of Ciona, a natural raw material from the Nordics. With Purply, you can make the same dishes as before, such as lasagna, tacos and meatballs - with the same taste but a significantly lower climate footprint. In fact, this is probably the source of animal protein with the lowest climate footprint of all.
Purply also has a low fat content and contains all nine essential amino acids that contribute to the body's protein needs. It also contains fiber, which is unique for an animal raw material.
What is Ciona?
A raw material with a very low climate footprint
Ciona is a small animal that grows naturally in the sea and provides us with animal proteins and other important nutrients. Cultivation of Ciona requires neither feed, chemicals, fresh water, energy nor land areas.
This gives Purply a uniquely low climate footprint of only 0.22 kg CO2-eq/kg.
